Pune Violence: Curfew Imposed In Yavat Village After Riots, Accused Arrested & 20 People Detained Following communal violence in Yavat village, Pune district, triggered by an objectionable social media post, a curfew has been imposed as of August 1, 2025. All shops in the village remain closed, and tight police security, including State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) units, has been deployed across Yavat and surrounding villages to maintain order. The accused, a youth from Nanded residing in Yavat, who allegedly posted the inflammatory content, has been detained by the Pune Rural Police. Additionally, 18-20 individuals have been detained in connection with the violence, which involved vandalism, arson, and stone-pelting, damaging vehicles, a bakery, and a religious structure. Over 100 people have been identified as suspects, and police are actively searching for them. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar have assured that the situation is under control, urging residents to maintain peace and warning of strict action against those inciting unrest.
