In this video, we are studying briefly about transport phenomena. The Phenomenon Viscosity, Diffusion and Conduction are called Transport Phenomena. When a gas is in equilibrium state, we said it is in most probable state but if it is not in equilibrium state, then in this situation three cases arise 1. Viscosity - When different layers of gas are in different velocities, then there is a relative motion between different layers with respect to each other. A fast moving layer pulls slow moving layer forward but a slow moving layer pulls it back, due to this a viscous force comes into play,and thus viscosity. 2. Diffusion - When density of a gas molecules somewhere is greater as in another reason, then molecules moves from greater region to lower till the mass is uniformly distributed. In this process, mass is transported from one region to another. 3. Conduction - When one region temperature of gas molecules is greater than another, then some heat flow s from greater to lower region. In this process, Energy is transported from one region to another. We will discuss, each of above separately in upcoming videos.
