As part of our 2024 DEI Series theme of “Enlighten. Embrace. Empower.,” Mutual of America held a Company-wide webinar, “Pathways to Success: Empowering Latino Youth Through Education,” featuring guest speakers Shirley Acevedo Buontempo, Founder and Executive Director of Latino U College Access (LUCA), and Alondra Vallejo, LUCA Scholar and senior at the George Washington University School of Business. As a passionate believer in the transformative power of education, Shirley is committed to helping Latino students achieve their dreams through higher education. She shares about the barriers that Latinos face when it comes to achieving higher education outcomes and how LUCA is helping to provide opportunities for Latinos. She has a deep understanding of the challenges the Latino community faces and is dedicated to advancing opportunity and equity for those most in need. Alondra Vallejo is dedicated to bridging the gap between the communications side of her studies and her passion for giving back to underrepresented communities. As a proud LUCA Scholar, Alondra shares her inspiring story of success, which serves as an important reminder of what’s possible through the power of education!
