Sent to the Netherlands as an adoptee at just six months old, he began racing go-karts at the age of 5 thanks to the influence of his father, who had a go-karting business. Recardo Bruins Choi had a happy childhood without much conflicts in identity, but he felt his Korean roots pulling him back toward the country. In 2009, he joined the Indigo Racing Team in Korea and has been living in Korea for the past 3 years.
