From the iconic Shibuya Crossing to an unforgettable Shinjuku food tour, this night was pure energy. Day 1, Part 2 of our Tokyo adventure — and this is where the city really starts to glow. My friend Gene and I begin underground as an express train flies past us, then emerge into the organized chaos of Shibuya Crossing, one of the most famous intersections in the world. We walk with the crowd, soak in the atmosphere, and watch as everyone around us captures the moment — just like we are. From there, we head up to Starbucks overlooking the crossing for coffee, hot chocolate, and a perfect bird’s-eye view of Shibuya in motion. After crossing again (because you have to), we make our way toward Shinjuku as night falls and the city transforms. The evening continues with a guided Shinjuku food tour led by Sabina, where we visit four different restaurants and try 12–14 incredible dishes — including the best pork cutlet I’ve ever had. Along the way, we walk through the red-light district, take in the neon glow, pass Godzilla watching over the streets, and spot the famous 3D cat lighting up the night sky. Tokyo is colorful, exciting, magnetic — and even if you’re not a “city person,” this is a city you feel. I love Japan. I love Tokyo.
