Davo, as he is known, had been travelling the wilds of Indonesia and beyond with the Rip Curl team all in the name of 'The Search'. His skills were sharp and his knife was clean, having not been in a surfing contest for sometime. World champion Kelly Slater has a love hate relationship with Bells and this year was no different. Davo got the wood over the champ not once, but twice.
