ST. GUANELLA ANBAGAM SPECIAL SCHOOL & HOME – SIVAGANGAI 12ᵗʰ WORLD DIFFERENTLY ABLED DAY CELEBRATION Theme: Let Us Create Change and Raise Dignity 07 December 2025 was a joyful and proud day at St. Guanella Anbagam Special School & Home, Sivagangai. The Yesuvanam Community organised the 12ᵗʰ World Differently Abled Day Celebration with the message that every special child deserves respect, opportunity and happiness in society. A total of 845 participants took part in the World Differently Abled Day celebration from 23 Special Schools and Homes. They included 600 special children, 60 special educators, 35 educators, 20 parents, 60 benefactors, 25 Guanellian Cooperators & Lay Movement members, 10 religious sisters, 5 priests and 30 volunteers. Everyone came together with great joy to celebrate the talents and dignity of differently-abled children. The event was honoured by our esteemed Chief Guests: • Rev. Fr. Visuvasam, SdC, Divine Providence Councillor • Rev. Fr. Sebastian, Director, Pastoral Centre, Sivagangai • Rev. Fr. Jerald Britto, Sdb, Parish Priest, Pallithammam • Mr. K. Balakrishnan, District Differently Abled Officer, Sivagangai • Dr. J. Anto Regis, Sagayarani Multispeciality Hospital, Kalayarkovil Their motivating words encouraged everyone to recognise the talents of special children and to support them with dignity. There were 17 cultural performances by children from different special schools and homes. They danced, sang and acted with joy and confidence. Their talents brought happiness to everyone and proved that abilities are stronger than challenges. To support the mission of all participating institutions, Digital Wall Clocks were gifted to each school and home. In addition, 12 Bluetooth Speakers, 6 Ceiling Fans, 2 Pedestal Fans, 4 Tea Cans and 1 Piano Keyboard were provided to improve facilities and help children grow in learning and creativity. These gifts showed our commitment to the well-being of special children. A tasty meal was served to all — rice with mutton gravy, mutton sauce and side dishes. In the morning, tea and cake were distributed. The hospitality made everyone feel respected and cared for. This celebration was not just a programme. It was a reminder to raise dignity, accept every child, and bring positive change in society. It also strengthened the unity among institutions and families. Guided by the spirit of St. Louis Guanella, the event ended with renewed hope to continue our mission. Together, we will support special children to shine and live a happy and confident life.
