This week, we started the day by checking on our green manure beds that we planted about six weeks ago. The garden is slowly shifting into its winter phase, but there’s still a lot going on! 🌿 Highlights of this week’s work: Checked the green manure beds — growing strong and ready to enrich the soil. Talked about our pepper plants, which can survive winter if transplanted - indoors. Trimmed the Brussels sprouts so they can put more energy into forming the sprouts. Decided to share some Jerusalem artichokes with others. Admired the rapini, one of my favorite veggies for both salads and stir-fry. Checked the new strawberry bed, planted two weeks ago — they’re settling well. Cleaned the spinach bed and talked about some sneaky “winter cherry” lookalikes (actually weeds!). Harvested the radishes as they started to age. Picked kale and corn salad (veld sla) at their best size. Even as autumn deepens, the garden remains full of life and we again has a huge harvest. Watch along to see how each plant is doing and how we prepare for the colder months ahead.
