Hey Salceologists, This is the story of how the pandemic pushed me to breaking point as a Woman-in-STEM and why it ultimately led me to become a STEM Entrepreneur. What began as fear, burnout, and financial insecurity became the catalyst for reclaiming my self worth and stepping into my full potential. This video shares the real story behind my journey into STEM entrepreneurship, and it did not start with a business idea or a long term plan. It began during the pandemic, when everything I believed was stable in my life and career started to fall apart. In this 35 minute video, I speak honestly about my experience working as a university academic during the pandemic while navigating financial insecurity, emotional pressure, and deep uncertainty about the future. At the same time, my mum was seriously ill, and the weight of responsibility as the breadwinner and provider of my family pushed me to my absolute limit. The academic career I once believed was secure no longer felt safe, sustainable, or aligned to who I was meant to be. I reflect on what it truly felt like to be a Woman-in-STEM during this period and how burnout, instability, and constant pressure slowly eroded my confidence. I share how reaching breaking point forced me to confront difficult truths about control, security, and the value I placed on myself. Hitting rock bottom became the moment that changed everything. This video explores how that period of struggle became the turning point that led me into STEM Entrepreneurship. I explain why becoming my own boss became non-negotiable and how learning to recognise my own value reshaped my understanding of success, leadership, and fulfillment. What began as uncertainty and fear evolved into clarity, purpose, and a commitment to reaching my full potential. This is not a highlight reel or a shortcut to success. It is an honest reflection on burnout, resilience, and transformation, and how challenging experiences can become the foundation for meaningful change.
