Greece 1983

Our first trip around the world was in 1979. Everyone said it was THE trip of a lifetime. But we were hooked. We were determined to do another trip around the world. I took a leave of absence from work (ostensibly to take an MBA but it didn't start until September). Kathryn had recently finished her Journalism degree. On January 6, 1983 we left Toronto and headed off on our second trip around the world, almost exactly 4 years after our 1979 trip. We were hoping that Greece would bring us much warmer weather but it was January and it was still cold. It wasn't nearly as cold as Canada but all of the hotels we stayed in were not well heated. They had some heat but they would typically only turn it on in the evenings for a few hours. Kathryn seemed to have a bad cold which was diagnosed as bronchitis by the time we were in Heraklion. She got a prescription and felt a little better but did not really feel herself again until we got to Eqypt.
