Went down to Botany Bay Saturday Morning to try to catch a few tailor after hearing reports of a few around. Big morning fog this week so I didn't start till later than usual . I headed out from the boat ramp full of optimism as conditions were great .low winds & no rain. I started fishing opposite the ramp straight away but couldn't turn a reel handle. Slowly I made my way out the front of the bay but still nothing doing . The seagulls were parked on the edge of the runway & most of the boats were inactive. After a far effort by myself, I started to head back in. I decided to try the far end of the runway where a few birds were moving about the water although not with much interest. I noticed the water was looking a bit stirred up so switched out rods & rigged up a squidgy fish on a light jighead & cast out trying for a few bream. Almost straight away I hooked up to the first of many Tailor which was great fun on the light gear. there was a heap of baitfish in the area & the Tailor I landed was coughing up baitfish in the net. I was fishing in less than 6 feet of water most of the time & the fish were putting on a great fight on the light 1-3 kg rod I was using. I Managed nice trevally in among the tailor that as usual took a while to land, they fight well above their weight.I pulled stumps reluctantly with the fish still on the chew as I wanted to get home before the sunset as I had a few decent tailor to clean & prepare for the smoker. In summary, what started out as a very quiet day turned into an action-packed session .im glad I took advantage of the break in the weather & made the effort to get out. Looking forward now to the next trip out wherever it is.
