Chapter - 3 | A Funny Literary Memory with Balwant Gargi | Suhavi Audiobooks About this video:- This video shares a warm, nostalgic, and humorous memory of my first meeting with the famous Punjabi playwright Balwant Gargi. The incident takes us back to the late 1950s–60s, during a grand book exhibition held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. At that time, I was a young student, just out of school, working at the Russian Book Stall on a small daily wage. Russian literature was very popular then, and Maxim Gorky’s novel Mother was selling fast. While working there, destiny gave me the chance to meet two shining stars of Punjabi literature — Sant Singh Sekhon and Balwant Gargi. Though I was very young, I already knew them well as a reader and admirer of their work. The story beautifully captures the innocence of a young literature lover meeting legendary writers she had only read about. It also reflects the literary atmosphere of that time — book stalls, writers, poetry, discussions, and deep respect for words. The highlight of this memory is a light-hearted and funny moment involving Balwant Gargi Sahib and his love for strong flavours, especially red chillies. What starts as a simple meal turns into laughter, jokes, and playful teasing among writers. Gargi Sahib’s belief that food, like literature, should have a strong “tadka” (punch) adds charm and humour to the entire gathering. The narration also includes a soulful recitation of Bulleh Shah’s kalam by a visiting elder from Pakistan, creating a deeply spiritual and emotional atmosphere. This video is not just a story — it is a glimpse into the golden days of Punjabi literature, full of warmth, wit, culture, and human connection. If you love literary memories, writer anecdotes, and heartfelt storytelling, this video will truly touch your heart. Stay tuned — the next chapter will share an interesting incident from the life of Kartar Singh Duggal. 🚀 Connect with Suhavi Audiobooks 🔔 Subscribe for more / @suhavipunjabibooks 👍 Like this video if you found it helpful. 💬 Comment your thoughts and questions below. 🔗 Connect with Us: App store:- https://apps.apple.com/us/app/suhavi-...
