There is a trend among western societies that we have seen a rise in mental health disorders, especially among youth (17 years old and younger). This is not to say that there is no mental disorders among adults, because there certainly are. But what is happening to children, largely because of our views on what is normal or abnormal behaviour, is alarming. Because of this alarming trend, I wanted to make a video where I shed light on this issue, using ADHD, Autism and Bipolar Disorder (BPD) as three markers for this alarming trend. Looking at how the World Health Organization (WHO) defines good health, gives us a clue of how rigid the definition of normality actually is, and that anyone can be defined as "sick" because of this narrow defnition. I hope you will like this video! Source: Grue, L. (2016). Normalitet.
