KTM 390 Adventure X (The Entry-Level/Road-Biased) This is the most affordable variant, designed for commuters and light tourers who spend most of their time on asphalt. Wheels: 19" front and 17" rear Alloy wheels with tubeless tires. Suspension: Basic WP Apex. The front forks are usually non-adjustable, and the rear has only preload adjustment. Electronics: It is "stripped back." It typically lacks cornering ABS and traction control. It usually features a simpler LCD display rather than the premium color TFT. Seat Height: The lowest of the bunch (approx. 825mm), making it the most accessible for shorter riders. 2. KTM 390 Adventure (The "S" or Standard) This is the balanced, "all-rounder" version that most people recognize as the core 390 ADV. Wheels: 19" front and 17" rear Spoke wheels (often tubeless). Suspension: Fully adjustable WP Apex suspension (compression and rebound) with standard travel (approx. 170-200mm). Electronics: Fully loaded. Includes the 5-inch color TFT display, Cornering ABS, Traction Control, and often Quickshifter+. Best For: Riders who want a premium feel and high-tech safety for both long-distance touring and weekend trails. 3. KTM 390 Adventure R (The Hardcore Off-Roader) New for the 2025/2026 cycle, this is a "mini-rally" bike built for serious dirt riding. Wheels: Larger 21" front and 18" rear spoke wheels. This is the biggest difference, as it allows for much better obstacle clearance and a wider selection of dirt tires. Suspension: Heavy-duty WP Apex with increased travel (approx. 230mm). It is fully adjustable and designed to handle jumps and rough terrain. Ground Clearance: Significantly higher than the other two (approx. 272mm). Seat Height: The tallest (approx. 880mm). If you aren't tall, this one will be a challenge to "foot" at stoplights. Electronics: Includes a "Rally" mode and specialized off-road ABS/Traction control Chassis & Suspension Frame: Steel trellis frame (powder coated) with a bolt-on subframe. Front Suspension: WP APEX 43mm USD forks (non-adjustable), 200mm travel. Rear Suspension: WP APEX Monoshock with 10-step preload adjustability, 205mm travel.
