How to calibrate a Sekonic light meter

This is another video about the Sekonic light meter. Here, I will demonstrate how to calibrate it against your camera/ lens combo of choice and how to read the dynamic range of a scene. To calibrate: -set the light meter to spot, then point it to the grey card; note the aperture value from the same distance, use zebra to the correct value for your gamma curve in use and meter the grey card; note the aperture value if the values are not the same, press ISO 1 and 2 together and rotate the dial to compensate the reading of your light meter To understand if the dynamic range of your scene fits into the DR of your gamma curve of choice, is important to choose first the tone that you want to be rendered as middle grey, and then measure the highlights and shadow values against it. Usually, REC709 gamma curve has 8 stops ( 3 above and 5 bellow middle grey) while LOG can have up to 14 and more ( 5 above and 8 bellow middle grey; CINE EI can further alter the distribution if needed).
