This is the venerable Mopar 340. It's like a 318, but more. Much, much more... With a higher compression ratio, a more generously proportioned cylinder head, a comparatively giant 4.04" bore, but the same stroke as the smaller 273 and 318 engines, the 340 was a born performer. There was never a "low performance" 340... they were all great. But some were certainly more great than others. This particular specimen is definitely on the greater end of that spectrum. It's been sitting for years, and my job today is to verify its running condition, and figure out anything it might need before being installed in a car.
