Frustrated with only two 3 way switches on the RM Pocket? No longer! In this video I show how to re purpose the rotary pot to a 3 way switch. 🔧 Smart Mod for More Control The video showcases how to modify the Radiomaster Pocket transmitter to add a third three-position switch, using a rotary potentiometer that is typically underutilized. 📦 Preparation with Backup Unit Rather than risk damaging his main unit, the creator uses a second radio for experimentation, underlining caution and careful planning before modding. 🧰 Hardware Disassembly and Inspection The mod starts with opening the device and identifying the rotary pot's pins—3.3V, ground, and signal—which are key to rerouting the input to a new switch. 🔬 Precise Electrical Analysis Measurements reveal that what’s labeled as 3.3V is actually 5.4k ohms off due to an internal pull-up resistor. The creator validates all lines with a multimeter for accuracy. 🔄 Switch Integration A center-off three-position switch is wired into the system using resistors (or repurposed potentiometer terminals) to simulate a mid-point voltage, effectively creating a virtual “zero” signal. 🛠️ Smart Resistor Use and Testing A voltage divider is formed using a 4.7k resistor to mimic the mid position. The old potentiometer is used as a static resistor, demonstrating a resourceful hardware hack. 🕹️ Physical Placement and Flexibility The new switch can be mounted in various positions; the creator opts to drill a hole near the vent—customizable for user preference. 🔁 Software Calibration in EdgeTX Since the mid-switch voltage wasn’t exactly zero, the solution involves setting a custom curve in EdgeTX to correct the signal mapping, converting -37 to 0 effectively. ✅ Successful Implementation and Testing Post-mod, the switch functions perfectly—+100, 0, -100 values on channel 5 allow for seamless gyro control and other applications like aileron/elevator rate control. 🎉 Final Proof and Thanks The mod is demonstrated in action, showing live channel values and aircraft rate changes. Viewers are thanked for sticking through the DIY journey. 🔗 Please tell me if any of the links provided no longer work!! 🛒 Zorro Switches https://www.tekrc.eu/shop/parts/radio... 🛒 RadioMaster Pocket Hall Gimbal Transmitter https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DBp... 👀 Click Here to Subscribe http://bit.ly/1nformatica 🛠 I buy most of my gear from https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_APpCVa You can help me by using these links! 👍 Follow on Facebook / 1nformatica 💲 If you would like to buy me a coffee: https://www.paypal.me/1nformatica Start Time,Title 00:00,"Intro: What is this Sorcery?" 00:33,"Switch Limitation Explained" 01:06,"Spare Radio Disassembly Begins" 01:38,"Inside the Pocket: Component Focus" 02:09,"Identifying Potentiometer Pins" 02:39,"Electrical Measurements" 03:11,"Voltage Divider Planning" 03:41,"Resistor Configuration Explained" 04:13,"Wiring the New 3-Way Switch" 04:43,"Mounting Switch & Reversible Mod" 05:13,"Testing Functionality with EdgeTX" 05:34,"Software Fix for Midpoint Signal" 05:57,"Curve Setup in EdgeTX" 06:28,"Curve Correction Explained" 07:01,"Final Mixes Setup" 07:22,"Functional Test: All Positions Work" 07:54,"Full Demonstration and Outro" DISCLAIMER: Unless otherwise stated all products shown in this video have been purchased personally.
