RAHA, is the 1st official co-production by Muthoni Drummer Queen who ideated, the track alongside Frederick “Dilie” Wang’ombe. The intention was to create a fresh global sound by fusing Kenyan street pop (Kapuka) with Latin America’s infectious Reggaeton, a hint of South Africa’s Kwaito, and a binding ethnic glue brought by the Orutu – a single string instrument from Kenya’s Luo Community. The result of this intention is a distinct sound filled with true heart and soul. While RAHA is a deeply infectious, feel-good and uplifting song, it’s true essence is an offering of gratitude for having found joy in life after what felt like an existential battle with; debilitating personal losses, public failures, rejection, low self esteem issues, career challenges and a mountain of obstacles along individual life journeys. The artists feel that they have finally overcome the “dark night of the soul” and are finally at ease, at peace and in-joy with life.
