Graham’s awesome MK1 Escort has been here many times over the years and has progressed through various stages of modification before ending up at the spec it is today. And what a spec that is! Cosworth YB powered of course, but sporting all the required sensible mods to make the most of its externally gated Borg Warner 7064 turbocharger, meaning we have a YB producing 445ftlb of torque right down at 4250rpm, and still making over 500bhp held between 6 and 7krpm. this thing has a truly awesome power curve. Now ordinarily, this would be a ridiculous level of power in a lightweight vehicle like a fully stripped bare MK1 Escort because they are RWD and weigh about the same as a sack of potatoes, but Grahame has solved the traction dilemma in style by integrating a Nissan Skyline fully variable 4wd transmission into the car.
