7. Learning from the Master’s theses : Efficiently using MarcEdit integrations ...

...and Google productivity tools together to improve a set of records by Catherine Carrà (SUNY Oswego) Thinking about embarking on a project to edit a large set of records using MarcEdit? Before you start, learn from the mistakes I made when I updated the records for SUNY Oswego’s Master’s theses. Using the MarcEdit integrations with OCLC Connexion and Alma enabled me to quickly make mass edits to multiple fields, but only after a process of trial and error was I fully able to make use of these capabilities. While these missteps were frustrating, it gave me the opportunity to refine my process for making changes to the bibliographic and holdings records and find ways to more effectively use Google Sheets and Docs to support and document my work. This presentation will examine what initially went wrong, corrections I made along the way, and suggestions for how future projects can be completed more efficiently.
