We share information about what living within the neighbourhood is like - this includes types of homes, school districts, shopping, recreation, entertainment, lifestyle. We hope you enjoy this labour of love. Let us know if we missed anything! Area description: Waverley Heights is a neighbourhood in South Winnipeg. It is bordered on the north by Bishop Grandin Boulevard, on the west by Waverley Street, on the south by Bison Drive, and on the East by Pembina Highway. Waverley Heights is located approximately 13km from downtown and 15km from the airport. Real Estate Trends Waverley Heights is strictly residential and occupies approximately two square kilometers. Most of the dwellings are single family detached homes, but there are some attached homes in the area that keep the affordability for the area quite attractive. There are also some high-rise condominium complexes within the area. The majority of the houses were built in the 70's with the majority being bungalows followed by two storeys and split levels. Schools and Services Waverley Heights is part of the Pembina Trails School Division. It has two elementary school; Chancellor School, and Bonney Castle School, and it has one junior school: Arthur A. Leach Junior High School. Waverley Heights is also located a short distance away from the University of Manitoba. The university maintains a reputation as a top research-intensive post-secondary educational institution and conducts more research annually than any other university in the region. It is the largest university both by total student enrollment and campus area in the province of Manitoba and the 17th largest in all of Canada. The university's raised admissions standards, wide array of professional disciplines, and global outreach have resulted in one of the most diverse student bodies in Western Canada. The campus includes both Faculties of Law and Medicine, and boasts hundreds of degree programs. The closest hospital to Waverley Heights is the Victoria General Hospital, which is located a short drive just across Pembina Highway. Shopping Waverley Heights is entirely residential and does not offer many shopping options in the immediate area. Pembina Highway offers a wide variety of strip mall shops and services. The Fort Richmond Plaza Mall hosts Sobeys, and several other specialty shops and services at close convenience. The area is also within a 10 minute drive to the Kenaston area that offers a luxury outlet mall, Ikea, Costco, Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowes, among others. Entertainment and Recreation Waverley Heights Community Center is located at 1855 Chancellor Drive and serves the areas of Waverley Heights, University Heights, Richmond West, Vista South and Richmond Place. The club supports a variety of sporting activities such as; baseball, basketball, hockey, ringette, indoor and outdoor soccer, and softball.
