Martha Pitre - The Preliminary round of the 22 fiddlers that didn't make the finals. There's some good fiddling in this bunch. What a contest. 27th Annual Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition The CGMFC was held in Morinville Alberta on August 27th, 2016. This was the 1st time for this National Event to be held in Alberta. It was a huge success with sold out crowds for 3 days. Friday August 26 saw the 'Alberta Fiddle Legends' show & dance. Saturday August 27 was the fiddle contest and Sunday August 28 was Pancakes & Jam. For the contest, the preliminaries started at noon with an opening ceremony and then 33 invited fiddlers competed in hopes of making the final. The top 11 were chosen to compete in the finals at 7 pm that evening. We are posting the preliminary round of the top 11 here in this playlist. At some point, we will try to post the other 22 contestants from the preliminaries as well. The judges for the contest were 1. Ray Legere (New Brunswick) 2. Louis Schryer (Quebec) 3.
