Bangkok Nightlife 2016 - VLOG 68 Nana Plaza / Soi Cowboy A VLOG from May 2016 taken at Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy in Bangkok, Thailand. There is also some early footage on Soi 4 and Soi 23 in this video. This is due to me receiving some bad service there so I haven't been back since. In front of Strikers there are usually lots of freelancers lined up on the pavement between the Hillary 1 bar and the 7-Eleven, and also a few massage girls trying to snag customers (optional extras are usually available with the massages). The longstanding Jools pub on Soi 4 which has been going since 1988 is due to relocate in September 2016. The new location is Sansem road way over past Dusit Zoo near the Chao Phraya river. Hillary 2 problem at 2:45 I wasn't in Hillary 2 at the time but saw the ambulance pull up with the siren and lights going so I couldn't resist getting a closer look. At first glance I thought it was a personal health problem with the guy as he didn't appear to have any obvious injuries. After enquiring further I was told the guy was 'boxing' which means he had gotten himself involved in a fight. Whether he was fighting the Thai staff or with foreign customers it wasn't clear. You can see at 3:09 the ambulance staff asking what happened. About 10 minutes after the ambulance left I saw a couple of uniformed police officers enter Hillary 2 which would most likely have been linked with the incident. If you are drinking in Thai tourist bar areas it can be very easy to be lulled into a false sense of security. It's amazing how minor incidents in bars become violent quickly and I would advise anyone who finds themselves in a potential situation to use restraint. If it's a dispute with the Thai staff over a bill be polite when you argue your case, and if that doesn't work just 'pay and walk.' At the end of the day being out of pocket by a few hundred baht is always much better than ending up in hospital. EQ Late Night Club This place has a great location but seems to be suffering as the Nightclub competition is particularly fierce at the moment in lower Sukhumvit. With Climax, Levels, Insanity and a few other clubs being long established and popular, business is tough in this market especially with the low season on the horizon. EQ have a good drinks promotion on at the moment, it's a 200 baht cover charge and included you get free flowing standard pour drinks and Singha from 11pm - 1am. { IMO EQ should hire the Patong pole dancer from the end of this video and just get her to dance all night long. At least they would have one customer in me, as I'd happily watch her all night long if I could ;) } Chequers is a small, longstanding British pub on Soi 4 located next to Hillary 2. It isn't the biggest bar in the world but it has a certain charm to it and is popular with both tourists and expats. There are no lady drink hassles inside which is a bonus. The English owner is a pleasant chap who also manages the bar and is very accommodating. Overall Chequers is a good place to watch sports, enjoy some Western food or just to take a breather from all the Thai girls! I took a taxi to Soi Cowboy from Nana on this night due to having a couple of recent near misses with the moto taxi guys. Nothing was very close, but some of the guys filter through traffic at speed and inevitably one day it will all end in tears. Spritz Restaurant - Soi Cowboy It will be interesting to see how the new Spritz Restaurant fares on Soi Cowboy. There is a lot of restaurant competition in the Asoke area but none will get the guaranteed footfall of Spritz. Personally, I'd rather have seen a beer bar or another gogo bar of some sort.
