If there's one thing that can be said about Steelhead fishing in Pulaski NY during December it would be that it's not for the faint of heart. In this episode Jim Root and friend George Zervos take on two Steelhead masters in Mike Loughren and Danny Edwards. Each must catch and measure one steelhead each for their team, and if anyone breaks off a fish they lose 1 inch. The variable here is Garret Brancy, Operations Director at the Douglaston Salmon Run in Pulaski (the DSR). Garret will fish for both teams, ,alternating which team he's on when he catches, breaks off, a fish! Steelhead fishing in the DSR in December can be legendary! The fish are big, and plentiful. However, the air temps are in the 20s and the water temps are hovering around 32. Steelhead have the reputation of being the hardest fish to land because they're aggressive this time of year, jumping out of the water and making long powerful runs. Combined with an incredible eyesight that limits the anglers use of line to under 8lbs (often in the 3-6lb range) these fish that weigh well over 10lbs make for some of the most amazing to land. Will Jim and George be able to stay dry, or will they end up swimming in one of the most hilarious episodes of Reel Bragging Rights ever filmed. Camera: Panasonic GH5.
