In a high-profile operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) busted a heroin syndicate in East Delhi and arrested two women who were running it like seasoned kingpins. This was no ordinary drug racket—it was a gang run by a nanad-bhabhi duo. Seema and her sister-in-law Samita had been running the heroin trade for years, and the police finally trapped them with a huge consignment worth over five crore rupees in the international market. The crackdown came after the police received a specific tip-off that Seema, a notorious figure from Nand Nagri, was preparing for a major supply. On 22 August 2025, Inspector Shiv Kumar and his team laid a trap near GTB Hospital. The two women arrived on a blue Activa scooter, carrying the consignment. The moment was perfect—the police moved in and caught them red-handed. A search led to the recovery of 1,049 grams of high-quality heroin, ₹22,900 in cash, and two Android phones. The scooter was also seized. Seema’s story reads like that of a crime queen. A 54-year-old resident of Nand Nagri, she has been in the underworld for nearly 25 years. Police records show ten cases against her under the NDPS Act and thirty more under the Excise Act. She is counted among the most notorious female criminals of Delhi. Even her two sons are involved in drug trafficking. The police had earlier branded her a “high-risk criminal” and initiated externment proceedings, but Seema refused to give up her trade. At the time of her arrest, she was already wanted in two separate NDPS cases—one registered at Nand Nagri police station and another at Shahbad Dairy police station. Standing beside her was her sister-in-law Samita, a 43-year-old resident of Shahdara’s Kasturba Nagar. She was not just a passive supporter but an active partner in the business. Samita handled logistics, hiding consignments and distributing them through local peddlers. She too has past criminal records under the Excise Act and NDPS Act. Together, the nanad and bhabhi formed a crime partnership that made them a formidable presence in Delhi’s drug trade. Their network was well-organized. They sourced heroin from Delhi-NCR and funneled it primarily into the Nand Nagri area, known as a drug hotspot. Seema acted as the mastermind, managing purchases and major supplies, while Samita managed street-level distribution. Their house in Nand Nagri had effectively turned into a storage and supply hub. The police consider this bust a major breakthrough. According to DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the arrest of the nanad-bhabhi duo is a significant success under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India campaign). Their interrogation is expected to reveal the names of bigger suppliers and other associates in the network. For now, both women have been sent to jail, and investigations are ongoing. The reality is that densely populated pockets of Delhi are easy hunting grounds for drug syndicates. Poverty and unemployment make these areas fertile markets for narcotics. Nand Nagri has long been infamously linked with the drug trade, and this latest bust reinforces that image. But what stands out this time is the fact that the masterminds were not gangsters in the usual sense, but women—relatives running the business together. The arrest of Seema and Samita sends a strong message that the Delhi Police is determined to dismantle such networks. It also comes as a relief for families battling to save their children from the dark pull of drugs.
