While I've been sorta too lazy to learn how to edit videos for my 2 subscribers (???), I've been looking into the DS version of the game because it's very different from the console versions and has crazier shortcuts. At the time of writing, the DS version is currently the version that is run in any% all tournaments because it has less stages to get through. This video shows two shortcuts in the Floorboard Frenzy quickrace in the DS version of Hot Wheels: Beat That. The recording is tool-assisted but not well optimized. The one done for the first lap is a lot harder but can be faster than the second one if done well. My somewhat consistent setup for the first cut is to: - Always grab the wall while angled left. You don't have to be turned as far to the left as I was in the video for this to work. Pray really hard that your car doesn't just clip through the wall. If your car bounces backwards before starting to climb the wall, that's okay. Stop driving at the right timing so that your car gets to an angle where the only tire that is against the wall is the back-left tire. - Hold left and the A-button together, and your car should freak out and fly forwards very fast after scaling the wall. (Note that your car will turn to the right even though you're holding left. This is normal.) Drive your car past the spot where the line markers on the ground change. This triggers the "secondary path" area that always updates your current lap progress to that location. More information about how this works in this video's description: • [HWBT-DS] Bedroom Brawl shortcut Drive past the finish line to count a lap. The second cut is pretty self-explanatory and requires very little practice. The only nuisances are when your car just clips through the wall or when your car takes too long to get squarely onto the floor.
