How is the smart-switching Dometic 3-way refrigerator on the Pleasureway Ascent? ** More about this video ** In this video I talk about my experience with the Dometic smart switching absorption type refrigerator found on my 2017 Pleasureway class b Ascent. This compressor refrigerator operates off: liquid propane, DC and 110 AC power. It switches intelligently between the 3 sources of power. When you're driving down the road, it will switch to the DC power coming off the chassis alternator. When you stop, it switches to propane and if you're plugged into shore power it switches to AC. Things I like about this refrigerator: It is quiet as is the hallmark of all absorption refrigerators. It sips propane. It gives me the flexibility to run off different sources of power depending on my needs. For example if there isn't enough battery power - no problem I can switch it to propane. Things I don't like: It takes awhile to cool. It's not "set it and forget it" like compressor refrigerators. You have to keep certain things in mind like at what angle you're parked if you're going to run it off propane (since there's a small flame that heats ammonia). If I had my preferences I think I would prefer a compressor refrigerator but as far as absorption refrigerators go, this Dometic is top of the line and works excellently.
