This event was recorded live on Zoom on September 29, 2021. Quantum computing is the next step in the continual advancement of the speed with which computers can perform, tackling previously out-of-reach problems. This cutting-edge technology has the potential to impact many fields, including drug development, financial modeling, material design, and cybersecurity. As just one example, quantum computers could simulate the behavior of molecules to develop the next generation of lithium-sulfur batteries. Join us for a discussion on what quantum computing is and how faster and faster computers will affect our everyday activities. Featuring: Ismael Faro, distinguished engineer and chief architect for quantum computing, cloud, and software at IBM; Gabriele Grosso, assistant professor of physics at the CUNY Graduate Center and in the Photonics Initiative of the Advanced Science Research Initiative; and Sara Mouradian, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Washington.
