Monterrey is one of Mexico's largest cities. It's known as the industrial heartland of Mexico and is famous for all of the industry and wealth in the area. Already this makes it a fascinating city with an incredible food scene, unique blend of cultures, and a city of stark contrasts from one area to the next. However, as far as tourism is concerned... it's AMAZING and WAY underrated. There is so much to do in the area, especially for outdoor lovers! It has really continued to blow our minds each time we visit just how beautiful this part of Mexico is. Massive mountains surround the city and the views inside the nearby parks rival any in the National Parks of the United States hands down. Yet, they get very little international, or even national, attention. There are also cascading waterfalls just outside of the city, crystal clear mountain streams, and beautiful small towns surrounded by all the nature. We visited the 'Pueblo Magico', Santiago, on a short bus ride from the Monterrey city center. It's a beautiful place known for it's Malecón on the lake and for it's nearby waterfalls and crystal clear water swimming holes. In the city of Monterrey itself, you'll find an exciting contrasts of architecture, cuisine, and lifestyles. Everything from the hustle and bustle to laid back, quiet streets. There are parks that make you feel like you're visiting the future, and markets straight from the past. Colorful congested barrios are tucked up in the mountains next to towering, modern skyscrapers. Actually, the tallest skyscraper in Mexico is in San Pedro Garza Garcia, a suburb of Monterrey. It it also Mexico's wealthiest area. The city also has a more colonial old neighborhood with great nightlife, a beautiful riverwalk where you can get boat rides, and world class museums that are now some of our favorites in the world. All of this info is relevant as of March, 2022. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hope you enjoy our second Monterrey video, make sure to check out the first.
