We Feel Unsafe - It's easy to think of homelessness as a faceless crisis, but when you see the people who are affected by it, it becomes clear that this is an issue that affects real people with real lives and real struggles. The Western Cape Government has reported that over 14,000 people in the Cape Town area are currently unhoused. Many factors have contributed to this crisis, but the efforts to provide adequate shelter, rehabilitation, and social support have fallen short of this growing need. Our team's recent short documentary sheds some light on this issue. Led by Samuel Flans, the junior creative director of Eh!woza, the team took to Cape Town's streets to engage with unhoused individuals. This documentary captures their stories through direct conversations, bringing viewers closer to the experiences of those living without permanent shelter. Through these first-hand accounts, the film aims to present a more nuanced understanding of homelessness and feeling unsafe, highlighting those affected by the crisis.
