An intense series of earthquakes recently began just north of the Geldingadalir volcano which famously erupted in 2021. As a result, the alert level of the associated Krysuvik volcanic system was raised from green to yellow. More than 3,600 earthquakes have occurred so far, suggesting that magma is intruding shallower into the crust. Due to this seismic unrest, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred, causing damage in the city of Grindavik. So, is a new eruption about to occur in Iceland? I discuss that possibility further in this video.
