Medicine doesn’t just demand years of study—it also takes away so many moments. Birthdays, weddings, even the last goodbyes to people we love. These are the missed moments that every doctor and medical student knows too well. In this vlog, I share a glimpse of that reality: growing up in Tacloban City, studying medicine in Cebu, and what it feels like to go home after years of missed events. This trip, I finally had the chance to be present—for my brother’s graduation. Medical school is long and demanding. It’s not just one graduation, but many: high school, college, med school, residency, and beyond. Each ceremony is more than just wearing a toga or placing a cap—it’s a symbol of the sacrifices made and the weight of the responsibility ahead. For me, Tacloban will always mean family, food, and the places that stayed constant while I kept moving forward. Sunzibar, a restaurant I’ve been eating at since 2010, has been part of every chapter in my journey. Each time I sit there, I realize how far I’ve come—even if medicine has taken away so much time. 🎓 Huge shoutout to my brother on this milestone—so proud of you! And to all doctors, medical students, and healthcare workers out there: may this be a reminder that while medicine may take away moments, it also gives us meaning. 🎤 MIC: Hollyland Lark M2S https://amzn.to/4q0LuIG
