This unique experience will blend cutting-edge technology with groundbreaking art, offering an immersive sonic journey. This is the first in a series of planned remote network collaborations with Lee Berwick (Digidub), The Inner Ear and the team at the Cistern in Svanö, Sweden. Join us at Goldsmiths University's SIML to experience the real-time diffusion of Fia Fiell's performance, streamed directly from The Tank (Cistern) in Svanö, Sweden, utilising Jacktrip, a low latency streaming tool from CCRMA Stanford. At Goldsmiths, the stream will be diffused in ambisonic sound, enveloping the audience in a three-dimensional sonic environment. Alternatively, you can watch the live stream from the comfort of your home or mobile devices and enjoy the binaural sound experience with headphones. Fia Fiell Fia Fiell is Melbourne synthesist Carolyn Schofield, whose intricate and improvisatory compositions for multiple keyboard synths derive from meditations on growth and transcendence. Silk-gentle and immensely powerful, her nebulous and dreamlike sonic worlds bathe audiences in lush melodic cycles and spectral drones. Time and rhythm become elastic – like an organic membrane breathing and pulsing. A prolific performer in Australia, she’s performed at festivals for Berlin Atonal and Room40, supported artists such as Merzbow and Laurel Halo, and released music on Longform Editions and Nice Music. Nonagon Festival Svanö, Ådalen – Nonagon Festival, rooted in subcultural traditions and dedicated to the experimental scene, invites you to an exceptional audiovisual event on July 26-27, 2024. Set against the backdrop of Svanö’s rich industrial heritage, the festival features some of the most innovative contemporary artists from Västernorrland, Sweden, and Europe. Cistern The Tank is a unique old oil tank-venue in northern Sweden (Svanö), which uniqueness stands in its 24-second reverb. The Inner Ear are a sound art and performance collective based at The Tank venue in northern Sweden (Svanö). The Inner Ear have been working there, recording and performing, since 2007 and have been actively running The Tank project since 2012. As well as performing at the Tank regularly The Inner Ear have performed at a range of spaces around Europe including Clearwell Caves in the Forest of Dean (UK) and they have provided sound for and choreographed the opening ceremony for the Swedish Urkult Festival on 2 separate occasions that they run in northern Sweden.http://www.leeberwick.com/the-inner-ear/ Hybrid Venue Hybrid Venue is a collaboration between Goldsmiths and Iklectik Art Labs in London with CCRMA at Stanford University in California. The project uses advanced network audio streaming technology, JackTrip developed at CCRMA with creative audiovisual interactions at Goldsmiths to enable independent live music venues like Iklectik to expand their offer in a rapidly changing cultural sector. High quality, low latency network audio will allow immersive audio to be streamed to remote audiences, replicating the spatial sensation of a physical venue. This enables Iklectik to be the test case for a hybrid venue of the future. With technical support by Synthia Payne, Nathan Adams, and Jim Hoult.
