LU Decomposition

This video presents the problem of LU decomposition, finding lower and upper triangular matrices L and U that can be used in linear system solving. In the video, I derive a sequential algorithm for LU decomposition that will be the basis for parallelisation. Row permutations can be added to make the algorithm work for a wider class of matrices. This video corresponds to Sections 2.1 and 2.2 of the book Parallel Scientific Computation: A Structured Approach Using BSP, Second Edition, by Rob H. Bisseling, Oxford University Press, 2020.
