Outerlude - Still Thursday Album Info "Moving Pictures" is the debut album from the talented saxophonist Ravi Coltrane. Originally recorded in 1997, this album would go onto be released the following year. Featuring many compositions of his own as well as some from other famous jazz musicians, Ravi shows a more relaxed side but also shows a more refined playing style of what would come in his later performances. It helps that he is supported by an excellent group of musicians specifically Michael Cain (piano), Lonnie Plaxico (bass) Jeff Watts (drums), Steve Coleman (saxophone), Ralph Alessi (trumpet) and Ancient Vibrations (djembe and djun djun). I sought to post this since for some reason this album is not present anywhere on the internet. I think it is for sure a gem from Ravi because shows his capability as a leader and a musician. For now, I'll leave you to the album and with the words of Ravi "A thank you to the listener, I hope you enjoy the music" Personnel Ravi Coltrane – Tenor and soprano saxophone Michael Cain - Piano Lonnie Plaxico - Bass Jeff "Tain" Watts - Drums Special Guests Steve Coleman - Alto Saxophone (tracks 9 & 11) Ralph Alessi - Trumpet (tracks 1, 3, 7, & 11) Ancient Vibrations (tracks 1, 6 & 11) .
