When it is possible to operate a single 8 inch floppy drive on a PC, the next logical step would of course be to add a second drive. Shown in the video are a pair of YE-DATA YD-180 drives, originally from a Fairlight CMI, otherwise known as the device that gave rise to the term 'sampling' in the music industry. Though the YE-DATA YD-180 can be considered more primitive than the Mitsubishi M2896-63 (the unit shown in the first video) due to its use of a continuously turning belt driven system, I find that its response times and access reliability are actually better than in the case of the M2896-63's direct drive system. As a next step, I will attempt to create a system with all 3 drives operating at the same time (need to set up a secondary floppy disk controller)
