Working Together to Restore Coral Reefs in Tahiti | WSL One Ocean

Ahead of the SHISEIDO #TahitiPro we teamed up with WSL PURE grantee Coral Gardeners, Tahiti Iti Surf Club, surfers, and volunteers to help restore the reef in Teahupo’o. Together we helped outplant coral fragments onto the reef and replenish the nursery with new coral fragments. With support from a WSL PURE grant, Coral Gardeners is working to revolutionize ocean conservation and create a global movement to save the world’s coral reefs. They are making an impact throughout the year through reef restoration, community awareness, and innovation development. The WSL PURE grant also supports their Mo’orea and Teahupo’o coral restoration programs, local awareness efforts, and helps educate communities on the importance of coral reefs by involving them in hands-on workshops and inspiring them to take action for the reef. As surfers, the ocean is our playground and our stadium. Getting involved in protecting and conserving the ocean is critical for us today and for future generations.
