Recorded 55 years ago this evening on Feb. 24th, 1965 at United Western Recorders Studios...Now for the making of "Help Me Ronda"...The first recording session was interrupted by the Wilson brothers' drunken father, Murry, who criticized the band's performance and enthusiasm. His criticisms drove Brian to the breaking point; Brian screamed expletives, removed his headphones, and confronted his father. Shortly after defending his actions, Murry left the studio and the Beach Boys continued. The recording reel continued to record the confrontation...Here's my little adaption of the last 10 minutes. More history,The Beach Boys Today! is the eighth studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on March 8, 1965. By the end of a particularly stressful 1964, the Beach Boys had released four albums in 12 monthsBrian Wilson became physically and emotionally exhausted to a point that he suffered an anxiety attack on December 23, 1964. During the recording sessions of Today! in January 1965, he informed the band that he intended to retire from touring and focus his attention solely on creating and producing music, to which the band reluctantly agreed.Glen goes on tour.Despite being a departure from the Beach Boys sound that pervaded prior efforts, the album was a commercial success; Today! climbed to #4 during a chart stay of 50 weeks.
