Vacuum conveying + weight-accurate filling

Powders, granulates and other bulk materials can be conveyed, weighed and fed to a downstream machine – e.g. a mixer – in a single process step. The classic procedure of manual weighing followed by filling into the system is thus replaced by a very efficient solution. The bulk material is conveyed to the system by means of vacuum conveying. Vacuum conveying is well suited for numerous products and is used for food, pharmaceuticals and chemical products, among others. Conveying distances of a few metres up to 100 metres in length can be achieved. A buffer vessel is combined with a vibratory feeder for weighing and dosing into the downstream machine. A load cell continuously measures the weight of this unit including the bulk material it contains. The difference in net weight is used to calculate the weight of the bulk material dosed into the downstream system. The video shows a test setup in the Volkmann GmbH technical centre.
