Trying to Reach Xinaliq 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan’s Highest Village

In June 2025 I travelled to Azerbaijan for a week-long micro adventure in the Caucasus region. In this episode I attempt to reach the remote mountain village of Xinaliq, one of the highest and most isolated villages in Azerbaijan. Located high in the Greater Caucasus mountains near Quba, the journey to Xinaliq is an adventure in itself, with winding mountain roads and incredible scenery along the way. After making the journey into the mountains, I spend the night in the village and experience life in one of the most unique places in the Caucasus. Xinaliq sits at over 2,000 metres above sea level and has been inhabited for thousands of years, with its own language and traditions that are distinct from the rest of Azerbaijan.
