In my last video, I talked about how rediscovering CRTs reignited my love for gaming. In this one, I deal with what happened after I brought a CRT projector home — and why it’s become a problem. After setting up a massive CRT projector in my living room, I quickly realised this wasn’t just another piece of retro gaming gear. I spent an entire night setting it up, adjusting convergence, and dialling everything in — and when it finally came together, games looked incredible on an 80-inch screen. Old consoles felt right again, and even cheap DVDs took on a quality I wasn’t expecting. But living with a CRT projector is very different from owning one. In this video, I talk about the reality of using a CRT projector day to day, the anxiety that comes with keeping it perfectly set up, and why a broken remote has left me with a difficult decision to make. I also talk about trying a modern digital projector, discovering video upscalers like the RetroTINK 5X, and whether modern solutions can ever really replace the feeling of CRT gaming. This isn’t a review or a buying guide — it’s just me trying to work out whether it’s possible to keep something I love, even when it isn’t practical. I mainly wanted to share this and get it off my chest, but I may make more videos as this journey continues. Game footage and media clips are shown for commentary and discussion purposes.
