Sailing Harley Quinn - A reliable Yanmar 1GM10 engine

Bought my first full size yacht as a project doer upper and first things first wanted a reliable engine. It was a bit of a pig to start and would stall on engaging gear. The engine is a Yanmar 1GM10 and they are renowned for rusty exhaust elbows that cause rusted exhaust valves so stripped off the head and sure enough the valve was buggered. The seat was also too bad to save so had a local machine shop fit a new seat to match the new yanmar valve I purchased. On putting back together I also did a full service of new impellor, thermostat, air filter, fuel filters etc. I bled the fuel system and she fired up after the second try so I was very pleased. I've also removed the gas system completely in favour of a origo spirit system. Eventually I will strip her and repaint as a previous owner has made a bad job of painting the top deck.
