North Maroon // North Face

North face, North Maroon, North America, Northern Hemisphere. So many Norths. When I was on top of Torrey’s Peak I asked a group where I should ski the next day. I mentioned the Chord, a chute between North Maroon and Maroon peak. One of the local skiers suggested the North Face of North Maroon and after some research on my phone I thought “why not!”. The ski line looked cool and maybe a wee bit challenging. My biggest concern were the temperatures. It was forecasted to freeze above 10,000ish which was good enough for me but there were a lot of variables. These variables, and a roaming stranger in the parking lot where I slept kept me up most of the night. But at 4:30am I drove up to the sign that marked the beginning of Maroon Wilderness and unloaded my bike. I figured I might as well give it a shot.
