This is a Mindgardens Neuroscience Network educational webinar on the link between smoking / vaping and severe mental illness, and how health-workers can support clients on their smoking/vaping cessation journey, including how to refer clients into the Keeping the Body in Mind Primary program for specialist nicotine cessation support. Keeping the Body in Mind Primary is a free lifestyle intervention program operating out of UNSW for people living with severe mental illness aged 18-75 who are living in the Central Eastern Sydney Public Health Network catchment area, and who are not receiving care from a public mental health service. The service focusses on supporting clients to change their lifestyle, to reduce cardiometabolic risks and improve physical health and overall wellbeing. To access the program, clients must have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder or bipolar disorder; a diagnosis of major depressive disorder with psychotic features; or be taking antipsychotic medication.
