Today marked my 100th video ride since launching this channel, a milestone I wanted to celebrate by revisiting a route I'd only experienced once before, but at a different time of year. I set out along the Lake Apopka North Shore Trail, from Magnolia Park in Orange County to the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook in Lake County. Unlike the paved trails typical of Central Florida, this route is comprised of crushed rock and sand, providing a noticeably different riding experience, particularly on a commuter bike. However, the day was perfect for exploring the unique landscape of Central Florida. The trail offered abundant wildlife sightings, with a particularly impressive number of alligators basking along the shoreline – I quickly lost count! The 36-mile ride through the scenic Lake Apopka wetlands was truly memorable. This land, once intensively farmed before the 1990s, was reclaimed and restored to marshland due to chemical leaching.
