This was a long day, but I got the engine put back together and actually got it started. Man, what a racket at first as those lifters pumped themselves back up! It eventually quieted down, but not completely. Oddly, the original lifter noise is gone – which is where I installed a new lifter, so that made sense. Guess the cam shaft lobe there is ok. But now there is a similar, albeit quieter, lifter noise on the driver’s side! Maybe it was there all along and was just masked by the noise from the lifter I replaced. Don’t know. I can live with that. What is driving me crazy now though is a water leak. It appears to be leaking from the intake manifold where it connects to the head at the back of the engine on the passenger side. That’s the last thing I expected to have to deal with. So, it was a mixed bag. One of those 2 steps forward 1 step back kind of days. I may be forced to pull the intake manifold again to deal with that water leak, but first I’ll try retorquing it and see if that helps. Sorry about the quality of the audio at various points. Had trouble with the battery dying in my external microphones.
