**DESCRIPTION** On Lap 167, Mike Mosley (#4) lost a wheel in Turn 4 just in front of second-place runner Peter Revson. He slammed the outside wall in turn four, while third-place runner Bobby Unser (#2) spun to avoid Mosley, hitting the outside wall backwards and rupturing the fuel tank. Mosley's out-of-control car veered sharply into the parked cars of Mark Donohue, Steve Krisiloff, and Bentley Warren that were sitting against the inside wall near the entrance to pit road. A ball of flames erupted as Mosley hit the stranded cars. Unser's car came to a stop in the inside wall just beyond where Mosley crashed. Gary Bettenhausen stopped his car and ran to the scene to help. Mosley suffered a broken leg in the incident, while Unser was able to walk away. The yellow remained on for 22 minutes to clean up the crash.
