Anime: Welcome to the NHK Song: The Adults are Talking - The Strokes. Video at the end: Coming in from the Cold - Delgados I probably misunderstand the point of this song and I'm okay with that. It makes me feel like a child who's listening in on a conversation that I'm not mature enough to participate in. Like I'm missing some kind of development which will qualify me, and because of that, I'm left to shut my ears and pretend nothing is happening. This sense of childishness as a form of self-preservation is one of the many ways I relate to Welcome to the NHK. There's a sense that Satou shields himself from the darkness of the world by turning inwards, inventing excuses for himself in the form of consipacies to keep him stationary. Pairing the two feels natural to me as I often think about them in the same state of mind, though I didn't think an AMV would work until I actually sat down and edited it. The music video for Coming in from the Cold also reminds me of the ending of NHK, the acceptance of the greyness of the world.
