Washi paper has a history that stretches back over 1,000 years. Known for its durability, beauty, and versatility, it plays an important role in Japanese culture and history. At Matsushika Washi Studio (Awajishima, Hyōgo Prefecture), Yoshiharu Okuda-sensei has been mastering the craft of washi for almost 40 years. A visit to his workshop gives you the chance to create your own washi products and learn about the entire process, guided by his skill and experience. During our fellows visit, Adrian, Akmaral, Dimitra and Laura crafted beautiful postcards, an ideal souvenir that will last for years to come! If you are in Japan, give yourself the change to immerse in this traditional art form, surrounded by the calm beauty of the Japanese countryside.
