Dr. Frances Cress Welsing (March 18, 1935 – January 2, 2016) was an African American psychiatrist, author, and lecturer best known for her theories on racism and white supremacy. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she earned her medical degree from Howard University and later practiced psychiatry in Washington, D.C. Welsing gained prominence for her book, The Isis Papers: The Keys to the Colors (1991), where she presented her theory of a global system of white supremacy rooted in genetic survival fears. Central to her work was the idea that racism is a psychological defense mechanism against genetic annihilation due to the dominant genetic traits of people of color. She often examined symbols in society, linking them to racial dynamics and power structures. Throughout her career, she emphasized Black empowerment, mental health, and self-awareness, becoming a pivotal voice in discussions on race and culture. Her contributions remain influential in Afrocentric and anti-racist discourse. #LibraryOfAlexandria44 LibraryOfAlexandria #History #AncientCivilizations #AncientAmerica #AmericanHistory #AncientAfricanHistory #AncientAmericas #FoundationalHistory #FoundationalBlackAmericans #Civilization #History #Anthropology #Science #Mathematics #Architecture #Engineering #Knowledge #Education #learning #Library #Learning #Anthropology #Metallurgy #SculptureArt #PotteryCraft #Masonry #AncientCrafts #Archaeology #CeramicArt #StoneMasonry #TraditionalCrafts #ArtifactDiscovery #Craftsmanship #Egyptology
